Kelly and her husband Wayne have two young daughters, Sarah and Sophia. The Noonoos have been members of Back Creek Church since 2004. They love to spend time in the mountains and at home with friends and family.
We are a Presbyterian Church, which means led by a group of elders. Elders are the spiritual leaders of the church elected by the congregation. When they meet to seek the will of Christ through the Bible, prayer and the leading of the Holy Spirit, they are called the session.
Deacons demonstrate Christ’s mercy to people outside and inside the church while elders continue Christ’s ministry to people’s spiritual needs. Deacons continue His physical ministry—caring for those who are in need. Jesus extended mercy to us. So we extend mercy to those who are as undeserving as we are. Mercy is a mark of the church. Today deacons also oversee church property, finances, ushering and other serving ministries. They are under the oversight of the elders. (Acts 6:1-7; I Timothy 3:8-13)
